February 6, 2016

This past sunday there was a member that was waving at us in sacrament meeting. We went over to talk to her afterwards and she introduced us to her niece, Liz. Liz is 16-17 years old, and I guess when she was a little kid she used to go to church every week. She really liked it, but her parents never gave her permission to be baptized. She got discouraged and quit attending for years. Just barely though the member, Lillian, was talking to her parents about the church and they agreed to give her permission to be baptized. So we went and taught her, and she is so prepared. We taught the Restoration and when we got to the part about the Book of Mormon we asked her if she had ever read it. She was a little embarrassed because she hadn't read a whole lot, but she knew that the part she had read was true. I felt the spirit so strong when she was talking about the BOM. We invited her to be baptized on Feb. 20, and she accepted the date. It's literally the soonest she can be baptized. I'm excited for her. The only bad thing is she may not live in our ward. Lillian, the aunt, told us that she lived in San Geronimo. The thing is, San Geronimo is a huge district of Cusco and our ward goes into a little bit of it. If she lives in that little bit we can baptize her. If not, we'll have to pass the reference. Here's hoping she lives there!
February 20 is going to be a special day anyway, even if we don't get to baptize Liz that day. I don't know if I told you this or not, but Elder Holland is coming that day. The whole mission is coming to Cusco to see him. This is the first time in the history of the mission that we're bringing everybody to Cusco. It's going to be great!
Today we went to some ruins called Pisac. They're some pretty famous ruins in the Sacred Valley, and were actually part of my area in Calca. So we figured out there were two entrances to the ruins. There's the main entrance which all of the tourists use, that's right there by the ruins, or there's a back entrance on the bottom of the mountain. If you take the back entrance you've gotta hike up around 5 miles. Naturally, we took that way. It was really cool. I'm going to send some photos later, I'm still getting them from the other elders.
